Musashi "Taketori no Okina" (The Tale of The Bamboo Cutter) Katana

From the Musashi Silver Collection Shirakawa Series comes this intricately hand-crafted “Taketori no Okina (The Tale Of The Bamboo Cutter)” Katana. The result of using Maru-kitae hand-forged technique with 1060 high carbon steel is a beautiful and resilient blade with a unique hamon pattern. The Taketori no Okina Katana is razor sharp and ready to cut.

The detailed Maru Gata style iron tsuba depicts overgrown bamboo with bamboo grass which signifies strength and prosperity. It also represents the tale of Kaguya Hime, a tale of a princess found in a bamboo stalk by Taketori no Okina and disappearing on a full moon. With the razor-sharp blade, cutting down and harvesting bamboo like Taketori no Okina would be a swift task. The wood handle is real ray skin wrapped in traditional black cotton cord while the high gloss saya makes the Taketori no Okina katana a great piece to your collection.

A unique feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi is commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a common misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana, it has nothing to do with channeling the blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to wield the katana better and puts less stress on the hands. It also benefits some advanced cutting techniques that require the katana to change direction rapidly.

Included with this katana is a sword bag. Each sword is individually numbered on the tang with a matching Certificate of Authenticity.
